This isn’t the first time Jones has partnered with a baseball franchise for sponsorship, repping the Texas Rangers in a Texas race last season. Kinston’s minor league team happens to be a part of the Rangers’ system, making the partnership perfect for both sides.”We had a great experience last April partnering the Texas Rangers with Brandon Jones and RCR,” said Wade Howell, general manager of the Down East Wood Ducks, in a press release. “Seeing the Rangers colors and logo on the No. 33 Chevrolet was such a unique experience for us. We’re happy to have the opportunity to continue that partnership and associate our new Wood Ducks baseball team with Brandon and RCR this weekend at Charlotte.”Jones has had a string of bad luck this season, finishing 20th or worse in five of the first nine races this season. However, he’s coming off a seventh-place result last season in Charlotte, so he’s hoping to turn his fortunes around with the Wood Ducks on his side.”I’m honored that the Texas Rangers have included me in their efforts to help promote their new minor league team based in Kinston, North Carolina,” Jones said. “Having the Rangers on my car last season and getting to throw out the first pitch at Globe Life Park in Arlington was an experience I’ll never forget. Having their continued support means a lot to me, and I’ll be doing all I can to promote their new franchise, the Down East Wood Ducks. “I’m looking forward to seeing them in action and wish them nothing but the best in their inaugural season.”The last time Jones partnered with the Rangers, he wheeled the No. 33 machine to a top 10 finish in Texas. With a history of success at Charlotte and another baseball team across the hood, Jones could see similar results on Saturday at 1 p.m.
